📍 Save this perfect family day in the Margaret River region

Part 2: Yallingup with kids

This is the exact perfect day we did with our kids when we visited the Margaret River region in January, and we absolutely loved it! ❤️

Start at Yallingup Maze & Mini Golf, one of the best things to do in Margaret River with kids. Expect full water-fight chaos in the maze, then tackle the 18-hole mini golf with easy + hard courses for kids of all ages.

Lunch at Swings & Roundabouts Winery in Yallingup. There’s a playground, huge grassed area to run around, an ice cream hut, and dog-friendly seating so everyone’s happy.

Finish the day exploring the Yallingup coastline. Swim at Injidup Natural Spa (better for older kids due to the rocky entry), or visit Canal Rocks if the wind is calm and conditions are safe.

Comment MARGS for our FREE Margaret River family travel guide.

📍 Save this Singapore stopover itinerary for your next trip.

We recently stopped over in Singapore on our way to Thailand and honestly wished we’d planned longer. If you’ve only got one day, here’s exactly how we’d spend it.

Stay in Bugis. We stayed at Mercure Bugis, which was an easy walk to Haji Lane. We got there before the shops opened at 11am, but wandering the colourful streets without the crowds ended up being one of our favourite parts.

Once everything opened, we explored Bugis Street, then crossed the road to Albert Centre Hawker Centre, where lunch cost us less than A$10 per person.

Next, jump on the MRT to Gardens by the Bay. Even if you don’t pay for the attractions, it’s worth allowing a couple of hours to wander through the Supertree Grove and surrounding gardens.

Finally, make sure you get to Jewel Changi Airport early. The Rain Vortex is free to visit, there’s the Pokémon Center Singapore for the kids, and if you’ve got extra time, Canopy Park, the walking nets and suspension bridge are all worth adding on.

A few tips:
• Haji Lane is much quieter before 11am.
• Albert Centre is one of the cheapest places to eat in Singapore.
• Gardens by the Bay is huge, so allow at least 2 hours.
• Jewel Changi is worth arriving at the airport early for.

Keep following more for Singapore. We are heading back soon with the kids!

📍Save Ho Chi Minh City for your family trip to Vietnam 🇻🇳

Ho Chi Minh City completely surprised us. It’s busy, chaotic and full of energy, but once you know where to go, it’s one of the most exciting cities to explore with older kids. If you’re not exploring the Mekong, 2 nights is plenty and stay in District 1.

Here are our highlights:

📍Hidden Weapon Bunker Café – one of the city’s best hidden gems. Walk through the secret tunnels that were once used to store weapons during the Vietnam War, then grab a Vietnamese coffe. Such a fascinating piece of history tucked away in plain sight.

📍Oasis Café – visit first thing in the morning before it gets busy. Hidden behind an unassuming entrance, you’ll find waterfalls, caves, koi ponds and one of the most unique cafés in the city. Will need to get a Grab if staying in District 1.

📍Saigon Central Post Office – send a postcard home! It’s one of the city’s most beautiful French colonial buildings and a fun keepsake the kids will love receiving weeks after the trip. Then head to book street next door

📍The Café Apartments – spend an afternoon exploring the hidden cafés inside this old apartment block on Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street. Every floor has something different, with great coffee, desserts and views over the city.

📍KissTour Motorbike Tour – our favourite way to experience Ho Chi Minh City. Ride on the back of a motorbike with an all-female local guide, discover incredible local food and see parts of the city you’d never find on your own. Perfect for families with older kids.

📍Bitexco Financial Tower – head up to the Saigon Skydeck for incredible 360° views over the city, especially in the late afternoon as the skyline starts to light up.

📍Shopping – Ben Thanh Market is perfect for souvenirs, while Saigon Centre (Takashimaya), Vincom Centre and Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street are our favourite spots in District 1 for shopping, food and a break in the air-conditioning.

📍 Save this for your Da Nang itinerary.

Marble Mountains is one of Da Nang’s most popular attractions, but there are a few things parents won’t know until they’re standing at the bottom (or halfway up the stairs!).

Here’s what parents need to know 👇

✨ Located around 15 minutes from Da Nang city and 20 minutes from Hoi An

✨ Catch a Grab there and back. It’s the easiest and most affordable way to visit if you’re staying in Da Nang, and there’s a dedicated pick-up/drop-off area at the entrance.

✨ Entry is 40,000 VND (around A$2.15 / €1.35) per person.

✨ The elevator costs 15,000 VND each way (around A$0.80 / €0.50) and is well worth it, especially with kids.

✨ You’ll still climb plenty of steps. The lift doesn’t take you everywhere, so expect uneven stairs, narrow pathways and lots of walking.

✨ Wear enclosed shoes. The marble steps can be surprisingly slippery, especially in the heat.

✨ The caves are the highlight, they’re much bigger and more impressive than they look in photos.

✨ Go early in the morning. The marble reflects the heat and it becomes incredibly hot by late morning. We really had our sweat on by the time we went!

✨ Allow 2 hours if you want to explore the caves, pagodas and viewpoints properly.

✌️Comment MARGS & we can send your our Margaret River region family travel guide!

Here’s how to spend a perfect day

📍 Cape to Cape Track (Morning walk)
Start your day on the Cape to Cape coastal walk, tackling the Redgate Beach → Contos Beach section. This stretch is one of the most scenic and accessible parts of the track, passing Bob Hollow Cave, rugged limestone cliffs and crystal-clear water. Bring swimmers asthere are multiple spots to cool off and keep an eye out for emus, which are often seen in this area.

📍 Cheeky Monkey Brewery (Lunch stop)
After your walk, head to Cheeky Monkey Brewery, 3rd time we’ve been and we love it.
There’s a huge outdoor grassed area, a kids’ playground, casual lunch meals and plenty of space for kids to roam while parents relax.

📍 Gracetown Beach (Afternoon unwind)
Finish the day at Gracetown Beach. It’s a great spot for kids, dog-friendly, and perfect for an afternoon swim at this protected beach.

Keep following for part two!
