As a little girl, I grew up watching my mama, daddy, grandma and papa, great aunts and uncles, as well as, aunts and uncles pour their hearts into serving at this very event. I watched them give their time, use their gifts, and love on their community. Back then, I didn’t realize just how much those little moments were teaching me and even molded me. And now, all these years later, I get to be one of the ones serving. There’s something so sweet and nostalgic about that! What I once watched with little eyes, I now get to do with grateful hands. 🥹❤️ I love how this event brings our whole community together. Neighbors sharing a meal, families making memories, and folks showing up to support one another. And the best part? The money raised is poured right back into the very community that makes it all possible. It’s so much more than BBQ, baked goods, and an auction. It’s a tradition of loving and serving others, passed down from one generation to the next. Good food. Good people. Generations of giving. Sometimes I just sit back and watch him be their daddy. ❤️ He could easily get his workout done quicker without two boys needing help loading weights, learning proper form, and asking questions. But he doesn’t. He makes room for them. He teaches them. He pushes them to do hard things while making sure they know he’s right there to help. He’s teaching them that our bodies were made to work. That strength doesn’t come without effort. That we are capable of more than we think. And while they’re busy building muscle, he’s quietly building something far more important. He’s raising boys who know what it looks like to be a man who shows up, works hard, and makes time for the people he loves.
