Brand Ambassador Contract Template (Free, Copy and Paste)

Updated October 22, 2026.

TL;DR. A brand ambassador contract sets the terms of an ongoing brand and creator partnership: term, monthly posts, pay, exclusivity, approval, FTC disclosure and the exit. Copy the template below and agree on the numbers before the first post goes live. Pay is usually layered: a monthly fee, commission on a link or discount code, and free product. Every post about the brand needs a clear disclosure like #ad.

Starting an ambassador program feels exciting until the first awkward question lands. How many posts a month is fair? Does the ambassador get a flat fee, a commission or just free product? Can they promote your competitor next week? A solid brand ambassador contract template answers those questions before they turn into arguments.

If you're a creator who just got offered an ambassador role, the same document helps you in reverse. It shows you what you're signing up for, what you will be paid and when you can walk away.

Below you'll find a template to copy, a filled-in example, plain-English notes on each section, and a close look at how a brand ambassador agreement differs from a one-off influencer deal.

BRAND AMBASSADOR AGREEMENT

This agreement is made on [date] between [Brand name] ("Brand") and [Ambassador name] ("Ambassador").

1. Term

This agreement starts on [start date] and runs for [6 months]. It renews for another [6 months] only if both parties agree in writing.

2. Monthly responsibilities

Each month, Ambassador will publish [number] feed posts, [number] short videos and [number] stories featuring Brand's products on [platforms]. Ambassador will join [one] check-in call each month and send a short report of views and link clicks by the [5th] of the following month. By the same date, Brand will share the sales made through Ambassador's link and code.

3. Pay

a) Monthly fee: Brand will pay Ambassador [$ amount] by the [10th] of each month.

b) Commission: Ambassador earns [percent] of the net sale amount (after discounts, before tax and shipping) of each sale made through Ambassador's unique link or code. Commission is paid [monthly / quarterly] once the return window for each sale has closed.

c) Discount code: Ambassador will receive the code [CODE], which gives customers [percent] off.

d) Free product: Brand will send products worth up to [$ amount] at retail each [month / quarter], and Ambassador may keep them.

e) Late payment: Late payments add a fee of [1.5%] per month.

4. Exclusivity

During the term and for [30 days] afterward, Ambassador will not promote these competitors: [list brands or product categories]. Exclusivity applies only to the brands or categories listed. Ambassador may work with any other brand.

5. Content approval

Ambassador will send each post to Brand at least [3 business days] before it goes live. Brand will reply within [2 business days]. If Brand does not reply, the post is considered approved. Brand may request up to [one] round of changes per post to correct facts, add a missing disclosure or fix legal issues. Brand may not require changes to Ambassador's honest opinion or personal style.

6. Content ownership and usage

Ambassador owns the content. Brand may repost it on Brand's organic channels during the term and for [90 days] afterward. Paid ads, whitelisting or any other use need a separate written agreement and fee.

7. FTC disclosure

Ambassador will clearly disclose the relationship with Brand in every post about Brand's products, including posts with a link or code. Ambassador will use a clear label such as #ad or "Sponsored," placed where viewers see it without clicking "more." In videos, it also goes in the video itself. The platform's paid partnership label can be added on top. Ambassador will share only honest opinions about products Ambassador has used. Brand will give accurate product information and will not ask for claims that cannot be backed up.

8. Ending the agreement

Either party may end this agreement with [30 days] written notice. Either party may end it sooner if the other seriously breaks it and does not fix the problem within [7] days of written notice. Brand may end it right away if Ambassador breaks section 7. Brand will pay all fees earned up to the end date, and commission on earlier sales on the normal schedule. After that date, Ambassador will stop posting new Brand content and Brand will turn off the discount code.

9. Signatures

Brand: [name, date]

Ambassador: [name, date]

Example: A Filled-In Ambassador Agreement

The key terms for a made-up skincare brand and creator. The numbers are an example, not a rate guide.

Juniper Skin Co. x Jordan Reyes

Term: March 1 to August 31, renewable if both agree in writing.

Each month: 2 Instagram Reels, 1 TikTok video, 4 Stories with a link sticker, one check-in call.

Pay: $800 a month, plus 10% of net sales with code JORDAN15 (15% off), paid after the 30-day return window. Up to $150 of product a month.

Exclusivity: no other skincare serums during the term and for 30 days after.

Disclosure: #ad at the start of every caption and said out loud early in each video.

What Each Section Means

Term. The term tells both sides how long the relationship lasts. Six months is a sensible starting point because it gives you enough time to see results without locking anyone in for a year.

Monthly responsibilities. This is the part brands and creators argue about most, so be specific. Put numbers on posts, videos and reporting, and you'll both know exactly what a good month looks like.

Pay. This is where ambassador deals get creative. A flat fee gives the ambassador steady income, commission rewards actual sales, a discount code makes tracking easy, and free product is a perk rather than a replacement for payment. Many programs mix two or three of these, and the contract should list each one separately. For commission details, see our affiliate agreement template.

Exclusivity. This keeps the ambassador from promoting your direct competitors. It limits their other income, so a longer or wider exclusivity should come with higher pay.

Content approval. This protects the brand from errors and protects the ambassador from endless rewrites. Setting a response window matters, because otherwise a post can sit in limbo for days.

Content ownership and usage. The ambassador keeps the content, and the brand gets a time-limited right to repost it. Paid ads cost extra.

FTC disclosure. This is not optional in the US. Under the FTC's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), pay, free product and commission all have to be disclosed clearly, and brands can be held responsible too. Brands are expected to brief ambassadors, check their posts and act when a disclosure is missing. The FTC's Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers shows what "clear" means in practice.

Ending the agreement. This covers the exit, including notice, final payments and what happens to the code.

Brand Ambassador Agreement vs. One-Off Influencer Contract

A one-off influencer contract covers a single campaign with a clear start and finish. You agree on a handful of deliverables, a single payment and a usage window, and then everyone goes their separate ways. Our influencer contract template is a good example of that format, and so is our UGC contract template.

A brand ambassador agreement works more like an ongoing partnership. It runs for months, so it needs a monthly schedule, a reporting rhythm and a plan for what happens if one side wants out halfway through. Pay is usually layered with a fee, commission and product instead of one lump sum, because an ambassador is meant to be seen as a real fan of your brand over time, not as a paid face for a single week.

The relationship is also more personal. An ambassador's followers expect them to genuinely use the product, so honest opinions and creative freedom deserve a spot in the contract, as the content approval section shows.

Before You Sign

A good brand ambassador contract template should feel fair to both sides, so read every section before you send it. If you want a second set of eyes, run through this influencer contract checklist to make sure nothing slipped through. Fill in the blanks, agree on the numbers and get both signatures before the first post goes live.

Brand Ambassador Contract FAQ

What is a brand ambassador contract?

A written agreement for an ongoing partnership between a brand and a creator. It sets the term, monthly content, pay, exclusivity, content approval, FTC disclosure and how either side can end it.

How long should a brand ambassador agreement last?

Six months is a sensible first term: long enough to see results, short enough to change course. Renew only if both sides agree in writing.

Is "#ambassador" enough for FTC disclosure?

No. The FTC's Endorsement Guides FAQ calls a stand-alone "#ambassador" ambiguous. "#ad" or "Sponsored" is clearer, and "#[Brand]_Ambassador" is more likely to be understood.

Do brand ambassadors pay tax on free products?

In the US, generally yes. Product received in return for posts counts as income at its fair market value. Brands usually ask for a Form W-9, and a brand that pays you $2,000 or more in 2026 generally files Form 1099-NEC, unless it pays by card or payment app.
